Thread Lift
Thread lift is a non-surgical treatment designed to give a natural lift to the face, restore facial contours and re-position sagging skin. It’s an innovative anti-aging treatment with relatively minimal downtime and recovery period. There are no surgical incisions and the procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic. A series of very fine resorbable sutures with tiny cone-like suspension structures are placed under the skin surface. It lifts and re-position fat and tissue which has naturally dropped with the aging process. You are able to drive home immediately post-procedure and most people return to work within a couple of days. The sutures and cones stimulate collagen production as they gradually dissolve. The results are partially evident immediately post-procedure with the final results usually seen within 1-2 months. The results are long lasting due to the ongoing and progressive collagen stimulation and the continued regeneration action. This ensures that the results are natural looking, discreet yet effective and give a re-tightening effect.
Before the Treatment
Prior to thread lift treatment at COCO Skin Clinic you will receive a consultation with Dr Jane Lucas to determine if this is the right treatment for you. During this time, you will be able to ask questions and have any concerns addressed.
During the Treatment
Dr Jane Lucas will measure and mark where the sutures will be placed. The area will be numbed with both a topical anaesthetic cream as well as with a local anaesthetic. Skin will be thoroughly cleansed with a medicated lotion to minimise the risk of infection. The procedure is performed without any surgical incisions or cuts to the skin. The entire treatment is performed using fine needles and sutures. The sutures will be strategically placed underneath your skin and once in position, they will be tightened to create a gentle lifting effect. Depending on the desired outcome and the area being treated, usually 2-3 pairs of threads are required.
After the Treatment
You may experience localised bruising and swelling of the treated area immediately following thread lift treatment. The extent of this is very individual – however, we find that in most people, localised swelling settles within 24-48 hours and bruising settles within a few days. However, we do recommend that you allow 2 weeks recovery period before any major social events. Most people return to their normal duties with a couple of days.
Our post care recommendations include to sleep face up, elevated on pillows for 5 nights, avoid high impact sports, dental work, facial massages and aesthetic treatments for 4 weeks. Longevity of Results
The results from thread lift procedure last approximately 18 months. There are individual variabilities and most people will maintain their results with other complimenting anti-aging treatments. The treatment can be repeated again in the future if required.
