Medical Grade Skin Needling (Dermapen) is a treatment used for collagen induction and elastin production. Skin needling uses an electronic pen-like device with small needles to create controlled micro injury in the skin, allowing the natural healing process to take place. Skin needling is an excellent choice for scarring as it can break down the damaged collagen causing the scar and allowing the area to re-heal. Skin needling also builds natural volume and increases general skin health. We can intensify the treatment by the use of bespoke combination of mesotherapy ampoules and masks.

Before the Treatment

Prior to any skin treatment at COCO Skin Clinic you will receive a thorough consultation with your Dermal Therapist to determine if this is the right treatment for you. During this consultation, you will be able to ask questions and have any concerns addressed.

During the Treatment

Surprisingly, Medical Grade Skin Needling (Dermapen) has minimal discomfort, as we apply a prescription strength topical aesthetic prior to your treatment. Once your numbing cream has taken effect, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed to remove all trace of product. A skin needling device will then be used to create micro wounds into specific depths of the skin. We will also apply a mesotherapy ampoule (targeted to your skin concern) during the needling process to ensure maximal delivery of the product. Afterwards, a clear thin film (invisible dressing) is applied over the skin to protect it.

After the Treatment

You will likely feel a slight warmth in your skin post treatment, and experience redness for approximately 48hours. This is often followed by a sandy or flaky feeling to the skin. It can take up to a week for your skin to completely heal from a skin needling treatment. We recommend that you continue to use medical grade camouflage make-up during this period.

Number of Treatments

We usually recommend starting with 4-6 treatments, 2 weeks apart. This treatment program is only a guide, your treatment provider will recommend the treatment plan that is right for you.
